Great Ideas For Fall Fun In The City!

Ever find yourself at a little bit of a loss for fun activities in the fall? Well, you'll never be bored again thanks to Time Out New York's list of 101 things to do in New York City in the fall. The activities range from everything like the Halloween parade in the village, to brewing your own beer. You can check out the full list here, but these are a few of my favorite suggestions:

1. Visit the Chocolate Show
Held from November 10-13 at the Metropolitan Pavilion, this is every chocolate lover's dream! You can sample treats from 2 Chicks With Chocolate and Xocolatti among others and even check out demonstrations from the likes of Zac Young (Top Chef Just Desserts) and more!

2. Watch the Macy's Parade Balloon Inflation
Every year, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade features balloons of many popular characters. New Yorkers have the chance to not only see them at the parade but also being inflated the night before! Characters like Spider-Man and Sailor Mickey are usually blown up later in the evening, and you can see it at 79th and Columbus on Nov. 23.

3. Check Out the Quidditch World Cup
No, you didn't misread that- this year at Randalls Island's Icahn Stadium, Muggles from all nations will gather to compete in the Quidditch World Cup. Over 100 teams are participating at the games on November 12th and 13th and yes, they will be in costume.

Be sure to look at the whole list and pick your favorite fall activities. With over 100 suggestions, there's sure to be something for everyone to do this fall!

Nolcha Fashion Week: New York Recap

Nolcha Fashion Week kicked off with Fashion’s Night Out on September 8th, 2011. This year, Nolcha produced an Independent Pop Up Shop at the Opia Lounge on 57th Street. The event was hosted by The New York Post, Ricardo Ralph Lopez, Farasha Boutique, and Globalfashionbrands.com.

Seventeen fashion brands were presented at FNO; many of which are eco friendly. Press and Industry personnel had the opportunity to browse the different collections; visit the Kroma Makeup and Kiss Nails beauty bar; and sample cocktails provided by Don Q Rum. The first 100 shoppers who attended received gift bags with goodies from vitabath and LypSyl among others.

Nolcha Fashion Week continued on Monday September 12th at The Metropolitan Pavilion. The event featured 3 runway shows, and an all day Apparel and Accessories Exhibition. Visitors had the opportunity to browse the various collections at the exhibit or visit stations sponsored by Kiss Nails and Vitabath. The runway shows were scheduled at 1pm, 4pm and 7pm and featured 12 different collections.

Nolcha Fashion Week officially concluded on Wednesday the 14th with the closing party presented by Kiss Nails at The Sanctuary Hotel on West 47th Street.

Nolcha Fashion Week was a great success! For a more in depth look at the events of the week, or to learn more about Nolcha visit their website to view images or a list of participating designers.

Summer Events Are Coming to An End...

If you want to make the most of the last few weeks of summer and hit some fun activities before they're over, here's a list of the one's that I consider "can't miss":

Tomorrow, Saturday August 20th is the final Summer Streets in NYC. Park Avenue will be closed to traffic from 72nd Street to the Brooklyn Bridge from 7am-1pm. If you're a runner, biker, rollerblader or are just looking for a beautiful walk down the middle of the street for miles and miles, this is the place to be. There will be water stops and bike rental locations set up along the way. If you miss it tomorrow, you won't see it again until next summer.

If you couldn't get tickets to some of the most talked about films at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival than the James Hotel is where you want to be. Come enjoy dinner and an outdoor movie at the David Burke Garden. This Monday, August 22nd they'll be showing Last Night (starring Keira Knightly & Sam Worthington). If you can't make it you'll have one more shot on September 12th.

The name pretty much says it all, it's Williamsburg, the East River Park waterfront, and music...and there are still 4 concerts left, so get your tickets now:
8/31- Bright Eyes
9/8- TV on the Radio & Broken Social Scene
9/17- Widespread Panic
9/24- Fleet Foxes

Hair returned to NYC this summer for a limited time run that ends on September 10th, if you haven't seen it before, it's totally worth it. If you've seen it before, well then you know why it's worth going back.

Hit a roof top, any roof top! Soon the season for rooftop drinking & dining will be over, so make the most of the time you've got left. Some favorites:
Affordable: Me Bar
Amazing Empire State Building Views: 230 5th
Trendy & Swank: Top of The Standard
Easy Going Good Time: The Delancey
Art Meets Frozen Pina Coladas: Roof Garden Cafe at The Met

Nolcha Fashion Week Takes New York

Fall 2011 Nolcha Fashion Week kicked off last week at the Empire Hotel in NYC. It began on February 10th with a pop-up showroom at the Empire Hotel's rooftop lounge where 19 independent fashion brands from all over the world showed their collections to a select group of buyers, editors, and industry VIP's. Celebrity stylist Jess Zaino of Style Network & Glamour.com gave style tours of the showroom and an onsite Beauty Oasis was provided so that guests could partake in hair touch ups by Paul Mitchell and nails and lashes by Kiss.

The good times continued that evening with an invite only Cocktail Party to celebrate Nolcha Fashion Week. The following evening Nolcha celebrated the launch of their new e-commerce platform: www.GlobalFashionBrands.com, with a party at the Dream Hotel's Ava Lounge in Midtown, Manhattan.
