Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting


The 2010 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, November 30th from 7-9pm at Rockefeller Plaza between 48th & W. 51st Streets and 5th & 6th Avenues.

This is a change from past years, as the tree lighting ceremony usually takes place on December 1st. This years still will stand at 74 feet high and 40 feet in diameter. It will weight 12 tons....and then it will be decorated with 30,000 lights and crowned with a Swarovski crystal star.

Live performances will take place over the course of the ceremony, performers including Mariah Carey, Sheryl Crow and Josh Groban are set to perform this year. Also slated to make appearances and sing are Jessica Simpson, Susan Boyle, Annie Lenox, Katherine Jenkins, Charice, Kylie Minogue, and Jackie Evancho.

The holidays are an especially beautiful and exciting time in New York City with events taking place daily and spanning across the city.
